Sponsored by the International Literacy Association (ILA), the Jeanne S. Chall Research Fellowship is a $6,000 grant presented annually to promising graduate scholars who are pioneering research efforts in beginning reading, readability, reading difficulty, reading development, vocabulary, adult literacy, and/or bilingual reading education. Eligible candidates must be doctoral students starting their dissertation research at an accredited US university, have current ILA membership, and be dedicated to an academic life in literacy.
The TESOL Teacher of the Year Award was created by TESOL and NationalGeographic Learning to recognize and pay tribute to exceptional English language teachers at all levels. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment by providing quality language instruction based on well-articulated theory, philosophy, educational research, and best practices.
In spring 2018, Reaktor, an AI and tech partner in Finland, and University of Helsinki came together with the aim of helping people be empowered, not threatened, by artificial intelligence. Together, they built Elements of AI to teach the basics of artificial intelligence to people from a wide range of backgrounds.
