App for Creating Imaginative Stories by Drawing and Coding

Codeable Crafts introduces children to coding and storytelling by combining simple crafting (crayons, stickers, cutout shapes) with visual block-based coding to create original stories. Children draw on animal templates, name their creatures, and then snap together a set of coding blocks, like puzzle pieces, to make a sequence of interactions. After designing their characters, children can select their favorites to star in an imaginative story using a small set of advanced coding blocks to create sound, movement, and text. With Codeable Crafts, children can enrich their imagination and creativity as they engage in the basic concept of computational thinking. Codeable Crafts is based on Imagination Zoo developed by Benesse Corporation, and ScratchJr developed by the DevTech Research Group at Tufts University, the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab, and the Playful Invention Company. The app is made available for iOS and Android devices by Benesse Corporation. Cost: Free
