Authoring Platform for Creating Virtual Reality Panoramic Tours
On the RoundMe platform, teachers can create and describe a 360-degree virtual reality (VR) field trip or virtual tour using informational hotspots, portals to other locations, and directional sound. Although a VR adventure is more immersive when using a viewer, RoundMe makes the experience available in full-screen mode to provide flexibility for viewing. Students can stay inspired by viewing the amazing work of the world’s best panoramic photographers, 3D designers, and architects. They can explore the World Map to see virtual tours nearby or in the distant corners of Earth. Students can also use RoundMe’s free app for iOS and Android devices to explore 360-degree panoramas and immersive stories from other users.
When I was in fifth grade, I remember my teacher showing us pictures from his summer European travels. It was amazing to me to see such incredible structures like the Eiffel Tower and the Roman Colosseum. Our teacher did a wonderful job of sharing what these locations were like but I remember wishing I was there.
Since Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland debuted in 1865, the fantastical tale of a girl who falls down a rabbit hole and ends up in an alternative universe has inspired countless retellings. From rabbit holes to mirrors, flamingoes to hedgehogs, Wonderland is the perfect world for virtual reality.
