National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)) is accepting applications for its Early Career Educator of Color Leadership Awards. The program supports these teachers as they build accomplished teaching careers in literacy education. Practicing prekindergarten to university-level literacy educators of color who are in the first five years of a paid teaching career and who aspire to build a career in literacy education are eligible to apply. Award recipients will receive two years of support from a mentor, along with the opportunity to present or co-present at the NCTE Annual Convention, where they can also collaborate with NCTE leaders. In addition, recipients will receive round-trip airfare, hotel, and meals for the summer EC-EOC Institute in year one. In year two, they will receive round-trip airfare, complimentary registration at the NCTE Annual Convention, three nights’ lodging expenses, and reimbursement for basic expenses for each day at the convention. All award recipients must be NCTE members at the time the awards are accepted. Annual membership is $50.00, and recipients can join online.
