Envision and Discovery Education are sponsoring the Champions for Change Contest—a chance for high school and middle school students nationwide to play a role in history and attend the 2017Presidential Inauguration Leadership Summit to be held in Washington, DC, from January 18 to January 22, 2017. The contest is part of the Chase the Race in School program that works to engage, captivate, and energize the youth voice on the importance of democracy and civic engagement. Teachers, the school community, and students aged 13 and above can vote on the Chase the Race website for the chance to send five students and an educator from their school to the summit. The three schools with the highest number of votes will be awarded the grand prize, including an all-expenses-paid trip to the summit for one educator and five students; 97 schools will receive a school banner and recognition at the summit. The school delegates will not only attend the 58th Presidential Inauguration on the National Mall; they will also hear inspiring, world-renowned speakers such as General Colin Powell and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai. Random drawings will be conducted for secondary prizes.
