Guidance for Evaluating Next Generation Science Materials
NextGen TIME is a suite of tools and processes for curriculum-based professional learning that supports educators in evaluating, selecting, and implementing instructional materials designed for next generation science. Specifically NextGen TIME allows districts and educators to analyze and select materials for improving science instruction for all students, based on key criteria and scoring guidance. It also provides educators with a transformative professional learning experience focused on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the implementation of high-quality materials designed for next generation science. The instructional materials targeted are either larger units of study or yearlong programs. All program tools are freely available. NextGen TIME is a collaboration among BSCS ScienceLearning, K–12 Alliance atWestEd, and Achieve. It is part of the Advancing Tools and Processes for Next Generation Science project funded by Carnegie Corporation of New York.
