Inclusive Digital Learning Platform to Optimize Student Success
Coursera cofounder Daphne Koller has designed a Zoom alternative calledEngageli, a platform tailored to education that enables students to work in intimate group settings in virtual classrooms. Engageli’s platform is designed to let students “sit” with other classmates at small virtual tables, where they can chat or work on assignments together while following along with their teacher. The class can be recorded, and a built-in note-taking tool syncs with a timestamp in the recording. The virtual platform also offers several test-taking options, such as quizzes, polls, and chats, inside the window. The engagement metrics are focused on how much students are actually interacting with the platform and one another.
Educational technology research and development will gain additional levels of perspective with Digital Promise’s launch of the Center for Inclusive Innovation. The goal is to bring in communities of color to participate as “co-creators and collaborators” in educational innovation.
