Kids Philosophy Slam

The Kids Philosophy Slam is designed to make philosophy accessible and engaging for youth of all ages and abilities, to promote a philosophical dialogue between youth and adults, and to increase awareness of philosophy and education in everyday life. More than $2,500 in prizes is available to students and schools. The 2020 Philosophy Slam topic is What Is the Meaning of Life? School initiatives may vary, from submitting a school video showing students engaging in a philosophical project, podcast, or conversation, or by simply encouraging other schools or countries to participate in the slam. The Most Philosophical School in America will be determined based on the school’s initiative, philosophical creativity, and overall excellence of the entries submitted. The winning school will receive a $100 cash prize. The deadline for registration and entries is April 3, 2020.

Deadline: Registration should be completed and entries submitted by April 3, 2020.

Plus: The Kids Philosophy Slam website features a Philosopher of the Week, such as Henry David Thoreau. This feature includes a brief biography and famous quotes of the philosopher, ideas for lesson plans, and links to other, related philosopher sites.
