Matching Grants for Stringed Instruments

Classics for Kids Foundation works to empower young people to shape positive futures through music, build sustainable stringed instrument music programs, and provide grants for high-quality instruments. The foundation offers matching grants whereby schools and nonprofit organizations raise at least half the funds to purchase the requested number of instruments, using a provider authorized by the foundation or, after discussion with the foundation, an alternate provider of instruments of similar quality. Applicants have one year from the date of application to raise matching funds. Only programs that serve K–12 children are eligible for the matching grants. The website lists current projects and partner schools or community music programs that have obtained stringed instruments through Classics for Kids Foundation. The site also offers guidance for starting a stringed instrumental program, including activity ideas and a sample budget.

Deadlines: Quarterly (June 30, September 30, December 31, 2019, and March 31, 2020) for submission of applications
