Podcast Taking a Glimpse into Futures Beyond the Bounds of Earth
Cohosted by Astronaut Cady Coleman and physicist/author Andrew Maynard, Mission: Interplanetary, explores the “big questions”—the challenges, opportunities, and mysteries facing us as we seek to build positive futures here on Earth and beyond. Mission: Interplanetary is a partnership between Slate and Arizona State University’s Interplanetary Initiative. Envisioned and designed by drama professor Lance Gharavi, this event features a galaxy of fascinating guests, including science fiction writers, artists, engineers, and rocket scientists. The podcast is audio only, but a YouTube video features Cady Coleman with Andrew Maynard on Slate’s show “Future Tense,” interviewing scientists who bring viewers up to date on the Perseverence Mars Rover. Girls Who Game (GWG) is an extracurricular program sponsored by Dell Technologies, Intel, and Microsoft that provides an opportunity for girls in grades 4–8 and underserved students across North America to learn more about gaming as a learning tool, while developing their global competencies, such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum provides unique fieldtrip opportunities for teachers and students to engage with the museum’s content online.
