The Lexus Eco Challenge, sponsored by Scholastic and Lexus automaker, is a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) competition related to the environment, which empowers middle school and high school students to create a better world. The competition is built on three challenges: Land & Water, Air & Climate, and an invitation-only Final Challenge. To participate in the competition, teams of five to ten students and a teacher adviser choose from a list of topics an environmental issue that affects their community. Then they devise an Action Plan to address the issue, implement the plan, and report the results. Teams may enter up to two Action Plans—one for Land & Water and one for Air & Climate. Winners of the three challenges receive scholarships and cash awards shared among team members and their schools. Total combined value of all prizes and awards for all three challenges in the contest is $500,000. Interested applicants will find this opportunity on GetEdFunding, a free database sponsored by CDW•G of thousands of funding opportunities for educators.
