World Book, Inc. has launched World Book World of Wisdom(WOW), where children aged 8–14 can go for fun learning, reading, and homework support. WOW is a child's individualized virtual play and learning space. Three main sections—Homework, Games, eBooks—deliver study and research boosters and tools, engaging games that provide real learning, and an exclusive collection of ebooks about topics that children enjoy and subjects they study in school. WOW works on smartphones, tablets, and desktops. A single subscription accommodates up to five users. Game players win badges that encourage them to further challenge themselves and invite siblings and friends (even if they are not WOW subscribers) through outside social media channels or email to join in the play and learning. New material is added daily to engage children and ensure the site becomes a year-round destination for children eager for a play-and-learn environment.
The award-winning Novel EffectiPadapp brings stories to life, promotes literacy, sparks imagination, and provides enjoyment for children aged 12 and under. The app follows the voice of users as they read aloud from children’s storybooks, and responds at just the right moment with music, sounds, and character voices.
The Lois Lenski Covey Foundation offers grants for bookmobile programs across the nation that serve children from disadvantaged populations. The grants support organizations that operate a lending bookmobile that travels into neighborhoods populated by underserved youth.
