Virtual Visit to Jane Austen’s House

Fans of Jane Austen can visit her House from the comfort of their home, or wherever they are. They can stroll through the House, now a Museum, on a 360-degree virtual tour, wander through the gardens with the Museum cat, or take in an online exhibition. One virtual exhibit explores the importance of letters in Jane Austen’s life and work through objects from the Museum. A choice collection of curiosities, Jane Austen’s Teenage Writings are short, funny, a bit wild, and madly inventive. Students can read, learn, and play with new online resources, including an interactive writing game and six short films inspired by Jane Austen. Teachers can book a guided walk-through of the virtual exhibits with opportunities to chat and ask questions. And students can experience a new digital program of talks and conversation events from Jane Austen’s House at anytime on YouTube.

Plus: Visitors to the Museum will also discover why reading Jane Austen is (among other things) a lesson in emotional intelligence, or how Austen was a pioneer in fiction, breaking new ground in subject and style.
