bright-eyed face that comes up to you seeing himself or herself as a reader
melts my heart. Knowing that you fostered that belief and gave that child a
gift that will never stop giving is truly magical.
The FabFems directory is a national database of women inSTEM professions who are inspiring role models for young women and girls. The directory is accessible to young women, programs serving girls, and other organizations working to increase career awareness and interest in STEM.
The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) has administered the NSF–AWM Travel Grant Program for Women since 1988, supporting both travel to domestic or foreign research conferences and, more recently, longer-term visits with a mentor. The Mathematics Travel Grants provide full or partial support for travel and subsistence for a meeting or conference in applicants’ fields of specialization, giving them a valuable opportunity to advance their research activities and their visibility in the research community.
Melissa Charette (Regional Teacher of the Year for the Olympia area) has created an environment unlike any other I’ve seen in a middle school. I walked in early in the morning, after students were already settled into their first period classes. The hallways were quiet and I could hear the sounds of learning and engagement all around me. Washington Middle School is already a pleasant place to be, with bright hallways and student artwork on the walls, but Melissa’s class makes it a truly amazing community.
TECHNOLOchicas is a national initiative of the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) and Televisa Foundation designed to raise awareness among young Latinas and their families about opportunities and careers in technology.
