Google’s eighth annual Code-inchallenge calls on students aged 13–17 to complete coding tasks on open source projects, with the aim of exposing teenagers to open source software development. To date, some 4,500 students have participated in the Google Code-in challenge, completing more than 23,000 tasks.
The Knowles Science Teaching Foundation offers Teaching Fellowships in the areas of biological sciences, mathematics, technology, and physical sciences. Formed in 2014, Latina Girls Code (LGC) was created to fill the diversity gap between girls aged 7–17 who are interested in technology. The program provides mentors, access to hardware and digital tools, as well as internships through various programs and events throughout the year.
